Hello,
If you haven't read our first post explaining the goal of Annotation Sensation then please do so! After you have read our purpose and you are interested in joining here are a few guidelines that go along with participating.
AnnotationSensation Rules-
1. Don’t talk about book club (Just kidding.) Help us spread the word!
2. Don’t join unless you are truly serious.
3. Treat this book like your child! Respect it and take care of it. If you lose it we will ask you to purchase a new copy and mail it to us. You are responsible for the book during the time that it is in your possession! (We understand coffee stains, but no ripped out pages, keep it away from your pets, et cetera.)
4. Going with the last rule, DO NOT LOSE THE BOOK. We use our own money to buy these books, so don’t lose it for respect of us and great literature.
5. Be thoughtful in your annotations, the point is to leave your mark and enhance the reading experience for the person who will read it after you.
6. Be respectful to the other annotators and the author. Do not write rude or obscene comments about the text or previous annotations or scratch them out. If you don’t appreciate literature then just send it back.
7. Use a different color pen. If you absolutely cannot find a different color at your local drug store then make sure it’s differentiated from the other writing. Try not to take up the entire margin, think about the people who will annotate after you. (If it’s really long then use a post-it note.)
8. When finishing the book take a picture of you and the book and write a letter about your experience in retrospect to send to the next person! (We want to have something to remember every reader by and we hope to make compilation of all the readers and responses! It doesn’t have to be a college essay, it’s just for fun!)
Love,
Megan and Julia of AnnotationSensation!
