  • We need your help!

Always read our first post.. well.. first. We need your guy's help. We try our best to get the word out there about what we are doing but we need help from you guys in other states and who have access to other places. If you are able to put them at your local starbucks, panera bread co, etc we have flyers that we can email you. Also just tell anyone who you think would be interesting. Tell your english teacher, your best friend, your pen pal in switzerland, we don't care who it is just tell them! We can never have enough participants.  Thanks for your help. -Julia of Annotation Sensation

  • Rules!

    Hello,

If you haven't read our first post explaining the goal of Annotation Sensation then please do so! After you have read our purpose and you are interested in joining here are a few guidelines that go along with participating.

    AnnotationSensation Rules-

    1.       Don’t talk about book club (Just kidding.) Help us spread the word!

    2.       Don’t join unless you are truly serious.

    3.       Treat this book like your child! Respect it and take care of it. If you lose it we will ask you to purchase a new copy and mail it to us. You are responsible for the book during the time that it is in your possession! (We understand coffee stains, but no ripped out pages, keep it away from your pets, et cetera.)

    4.       Going with the last rule, DO NOT LOSE THE BOOK. We use our own money to buy these books, so don’t lose it for respect of us and great literature.

    5.       Be thoughtful in your annotations, the point is to leave your mark and enhance the reading experience for the person who will read it after you.

    6.       Be respectful to the other annotators and the author. Do not write rude or obscene comments about the text or previous annotations or scratch them out. If you don’t appreciate literature then just send it back.

    7.       Use a different color pen. If you absolutely cannot find a different color at your local drug store then make sure it’s differentiated from the other writing. Try not to take up the entire margin, think about the people who will annotate after you. (If it’s really long then use a post-it note.)

    8.       When finishing the book take a picture of you and the book and write a letter about your experience in retrospect to send to the next person! (We want to have something to remember every reader by and we hope to make compilation of all the readers and responses! It doesn’t have to be a college essay, it’s just for fun!)

    Love,

    Megan and Julia of AnnotationSensation!

  • Hello!
Annotation Sensation is a group for all of those who love to read and would like to participate in what we hope will become the largest book club of all time.

Our mission is to cycle one copy of a book through people all over the country so they can read previous annotations made by other book lovers, add their own, and then pass it on! For more information you can keep following our posts or read our About Me in the side bar!

Annotations are a conversation with the author and we believe that it is a critical component to the reading experience. By participating in Annotation Sensation you will be stepping into the shoes of other readers like yourself and you will be enhancing your reading experience.

If you would like to participate in our massive endeavor to reach all of those who are true book worms then leave a comment, message, or shoot us an email at AnnotationSensation@yahoo.com. In the comments, messages, or e-mails feel free to suggest books that will be read!

The first books that will be cycled are Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut and The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. There will always be a choice between a classical book and a modern book. If this idea proves to be a sucess like we are hoping more categories and books will be added in. These two books are already annotated for the first time and ready to be sent to the next person!

Before a book is sent to its first reader they must agree to our rules of annotation which will be posted on the website and also mailed with the book. Along with the the rules and book there will be a letter from the previous reader, passing it along to the new reader.

Please help us turn our idea into the real thing but passing out link along! We will later be posting a copy of our flyer so that anyone who wishes to can print some copies and hang them at your local coffee shops, school bulliten boards, et cetera! Also, stay tuned for our link to facebook and blogspot.

    Love,
    Annotation Sensation
